Carole Moawad, from Lebanon, is the co-founder of M’OISHÎ, the UAE’s first homegrown mochi ice cream brand, and UCHI, a sushi bar. She holds a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Saint Joseph’s University (Lebanon) and two master’s degrees from Université Denis Diederot (Paris). During a 2016 holiday in Beirut, Carole discovered mochi ice cream and decided to introduce it to the UAE. Balancing her corporate job, she experimented with recipes at home, partnered with a start-up agency for
branding, and launched M’OISHÎ in 2017 at Citywalk, Dubai. M’OISHÎ quickly became popular, expanding to ten locations across the UAE, including Dubai Mall and Mall
of the Emirates, and catering to private events. It also has franchises in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Egypt, with plans to expand further into the GCC and Europe. In 2023, Carole launched UCHI under MOISHI Holding, a sushi bar blending Japanese and UAE culinary
excellence in DIFC. In 2024, and under the leardership of Carole and the board, there was a shift of focus from retail focus only to include manufacturing and FMCG expansion with Yumochi brand of modern treat and private labels to optimize the factory utilization. As Carole put it “Our primary focus and investment moving forward will be in research and development, as the world increasingly shifts towards health-conscious choices. We will also prioritize internal digitalization, alongside effective management of the company and external communications through data analysis and tailored AI-based solutions. We believe these initiatives are essential for the growth and sustainability of our business.
