John Sullivan is the Chief Marketing Officer at WHOOP, the Boston-based human performance company known for its cutting-edge wearable technology. Since joining in 2017, John has played a pivotal role in evolving WHOOP from a niche performance tool into a globally recognized health and fitness platform.
As CMO, John leads all areas of marketing, including brand strategy, commercial campaigns, lifecycle marketing, business development, and the apparel and accessories category. He has overseen expansion into more than 50 countries, introduced multilingual app experiences, and spearheaded impactful campaigns featuring global icons such as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Prior to WHOOP, John held senior marketing roles at Tracksmith, PUMA, and Monitor Group, where he developed a deep foundation in brand storytelling and customer-centric strategy. He earned his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish Literature from Colby College.
John champions the idea of “brand durability” — creating marketing that is built to last by focusing on authenticity, trust, and long-term community engagement. His work has also helped bring innovative technologies to the forefront, including AI-driven coaching features like WHOOP Coach, designed to deliver personalized health insights at scale.
