Fatima Alawadhi
Youngest & First Arab Teen To Climb Highest Peak in Antarctica
Fatima Abdulrahman Alawadhi is a pioneering young Emirati mountaineer who has already climbed three of the Seven Summits at 18, including Kilimanjaro, and made history as the youngest Emirati to summit Mount Elbrus, Europe’s highest mountain, and more recently the youngest Arab to summit Mount Vinson, Antarctica’s highest mountain. She is on a mission to climb the highest peak on every continent, carrying the UAE flag to the world’s summits. Fatima is also a student at the American University of Sharjah, majoring in Economics, balancing rigorous academics with an accelerated mountaineering journey unfolding at a fast pace. She began climbing in her third year of high school after completing the four-day self-sufficient group hike for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh International Award in Nepal in February 2024, where she found peace during a deeply challenging period of her life, as her father spent four years in a coma, and discovered a powerful sense of purpose through the mountains. Soon after, she climbed Kilimanjaro as her first mountain and first Seven Summit, immediately after completing a summer program at NYU Abu Dhabi. Following the loss of her father toward the end of 2024, mountaineering became part of her grief journey, helping her rebuild and transform pain into strength. Today, she stands as a role model for youth, and as she continues her journey, she is shaping herself into a well-rounded individual and a global citizen who leads with resilience, purpose, and impact, proving that no matter how hard life becomes, you can rise, rebuild, and change your future.
