Two Dubai-based sisters, Iman and Luchie, spent years traveling the world searching for chocolates that were both delicious and truly healthy — but they never found any. Determined to change that, they flew with their 68‑year‑old diabetic mother to Mindanao, Philippines, to study cacao at its source. There, they learned how to plant, prune, harvest, and ferment cacao, and they saw firsthand the challenges faced by small-holding farmers.
In 2016, the sisters became Cacao Doctors, and what began as a learning trip quickly grew into a social mission. They launched OFW para sa Magsasaka (OPM), an agricultural enterprise supporting Filipino cacao farmers, eventually expanding to twenty hectares with the help of early angel investors.
Their mother’s long battle with diabetes and heart disease became the emotional catalyst: a reminder that food choices shape health, and that chocolate — the world’s most comforting treat — needed a healthier path. So the family committed to crafting chocolates made with real cacao, natural sweeteners, and superfood ingredients, always with low GI and GL in mind.
From this blend of purpose, science, and craft, Co Chocolat was born — a brand rooted in wellness, farmer empowerment, and fine cacao. Today, supported by dozens of impact investors across the globe, the sisters continue to champion healthy chocolate and the farming communities behind it.
